Hearthstone's Year of the Raven is nearly upon us

Blizzards all-encompassing digital cardgame is about to tick over to a new year, which means more rotation and a new meta to contend with in Standard play.

The Year of the Raven will see cards from Whispers of the Old Gods, One Night in Karazhan and Mean Streets of Gadgetzan rotate out of Standard and remain exclusive to the Wild format. Standard play itself will involve the following sets:

  • Basic
  • Classic
  • Journey to Un’Goro
  • Knights of the Frozen Throne
  • Kobolds & Catacombs

And then of course whatever the first 2018 expansion will be, of which we know very little about right now apart from this teaser:

In addition to the above sets, Ice Block, Coldlight Oracle and Molten Giant from the existing ‘Classic’ line-up will be rotating out of Standard and into Wild via the Hall of Fame set.

Remember you can still use Arcane Dust to craft cards that aren’t available in Standard anymore, including Adventure card that were previously un-craftable. You can also purchase Wild content via the online store (although not the in-game store).

To round off the changes coming with the new Hearthstone year, players will be getting a new Druid Hero in the form of Lunara, a new Tournament system that can be used from within the game client and Quests are also getting better. Almost every goal will have its reward increased and its requirements decreased.

All of the above details and more can be read-up on via Blizzard’s official post, as well as checking out the latest Hearthside Chat with Ben Brode, which we’ve embedded for your convenience.
