Review: Solitairica

Colorful graphics, bad puns, and silly enemies await you in the land of Myriodd, where evil King Stuck has seized power.

Great review! This was a game I almost deleted after a few plays, but then I ended up playing for countless hours more, usually a few minutes at a time on the go. At first I thought there was little in the way of strategy, but then I found the right combinations of cards that worked for me with the various characters and I appreciated the innovative and sometimes wacky game design. To me, that learning curve was the best part of the game, and the repetitiveness you mention, especially in the early stages was the worst.

I would have almost certainly deleted it if I ran into those 20 second load times on an older device. Does anyone have a newer iPad for Tof?

Absolutely love this game. Took forever to beat Stuck with my Warrior deck, and I'm fighting my way through with the Wizard now. Sure, it's not the deepest game in the world, but it's surprising how much better everything works when you tailor your card choices to the class you're currently using.

It's not that bad. In-game, it does a good job. And it avoids the generic fantasy pseudo-realism that seems to be the go-to art direction for a lot of CCG these days.

It's a solitaire-RPG mashup--I wouldn't expect Monument Valley-esque artwork, and it's nowhere near Dream Quest levels of suckitude. (Nor is the game as good as Dream Quest, of course.)
