Alpha Colony misses Kickstarter target by a nanometer

[ski jumper tumbles off ramp] The agony of defeat.
If you thought the Sword of Fargoal 2 Kickstarter had come down to the wire, wait until you get a load of this: M.U.L.E.-inspired iOS & Android strategy project Alpha Colony missed its Kickstarter target of $50,000 this weekend by $28. Twenty-eight. I just broke out the PT abacus and twenty-eight is five-tenths hundredths of one percent of fifty thousand. Jeeeeeez.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I thought Alpha Colony looked amazing (it seemed a bit naff to me, to be honest) but how can your heart not go out to these guys? There's quite a story to stitch together from the comments on the pitch page: according to posters the project was thousands of dollars away just minutes before the deadline, and an 11th hour wave of donations came in - but it just wasn't enough.

The most recent comment from Dreamquest Games is a down-beat sign-off from the project that sounds quite final - this wasn't their first bite at the Kickstarter apple, so you can imagine their disappointment. Tough break.

UPDATE: Math fix! Thanks commenters.
