The fact that they haven’t officially announced an Android port of their excellent iPad strategy game shouldn’t dissuade us from speculating about Slitherine’s future plans for it. Also, I love speculating.
Slitherine lead programmer Philip Veale tweeted a light-hearted lament about Android dev tools late last night. Veale had tweeted about iOS development prior to Battle Academy’s release for iPad this year. Slitherine have developed for Android before – last year’s History Channel-branded Great Battles Medieval was released for Tegra 2 Android devices.
I sent a pigeon over to Slitherine asking for more details – I’ll let you know if it comes back. In the meantime, check out my review of Battle Academy for iPad if you haven’t already seen it.
UPDATE: Boy, that was quick. Slitherine’s splendid marketing chap Marco was in touch and while he didn’t confirm or deny Battle Academy for Android, he did say that they have not one but two Android games in the works right now. Slitherine have a press event next week – I’ll be covering it right here.
UPDATE 2: Looks like I was right – Battle Academy for Android is due out in Q4 of this year.
