The iPad enhanced edition of classic RPG Baldur’s Gate is for sale again, almost two months after being yanked due to a “contractual issue”. As sources told me at the time, a dispute with rightsholder Atari was to blame for the removal — and I’m pretty sure that the whole mess was related to Atari’s recent intellectual property fire sale.
An email sent around to developer Beamdog’s mailing list last night said that “[a]ll outstanding issues with our publishing partner have been resolved.”
We’ll announce the details of an upcoming major Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition patch and the Android tablet version in the near future. We’ll also have some exciting news regarding Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition soon after.
The version of Baldur’s Gate currently up on the App Store dates back to February, so that big patch is definitely not up yet. Our own Phil thought that Baldur’s Gate was something pretty special when he reviewed it back in December.
Hat-tip to PT reader Phil.
