Out Tonight: Cadwallon City of Thieves07 Nov 2012 0
With the unexpected arrival of Phantom Leader yesterday, this week has pretty much shot its new release bolt already. I've spent a bit of time with Phantom Leader and I'm growing very fond of it - but it's not for everybody. Stay tuned for a full review.
The roster of releases tonight is pretty thin - the only really notable item on it is Cadwallon: City of Thieves, which sadly looks like it's going to be a bust. After spending over a year in development, the iPad adaptation of the eponymous board game is shipping with neither single-player AI nor online multiplayer. Publisher Cyanide is asking just 99 cents for it - an absurdly low price for an iPad board game, even if it's pass-and-play only.
It sure looks as if Cyanide is washing its hands of a troubled project and recouping whatever funds it can before walking away. I don't know the inside story of this development fiasco, but if you do - I'd love to talk to you.
In other releases, a new title from Crescent Moon Games is on the way: a Diablo-style hack n' slash called Wraithborne. Crescent Moon just brought us idyllic world creation sandbox Topia a few weeks ago. It must have been an odd few months in the office with those two projects going side by side. Check out the Wraithborne trailer in all it's shouty, trumpet-y glory
The trailer for Cadwallon is embedded below. We hardly ye.
