Weekend Price Drops: Great Vengeance and Furious Anger Edition08 Dec 2012 0
If you like a bit of Old Testament-style smiting of mortals (and who doesn't), you may want to have a look at Ubisoft's Babel Rising 3D, which is free at the mo. It's billed as a "god sim" but it doesn't seem to have the broad sweep of say, Populous. In Babel Rising you're a deity on a very particular mission, namely to stop the mortals from building the titular sacrilegious tower with the lightning bolts and floods at your disposal. Poor humans. Lucky for them, gods get a little less sensitive about skyscrapers eventually.
Puzzle Quest 2 is half off this weekend, going for just two dollars. This 2010 sequel to Puzzle Quest overcomplicated the formula that made the original so delightfully fun and replayable, adding a raft of unnecessary plot and exposition. Even still, it's hard to find a better match-3 puzzler, and despite being loaded down by the "more is more" approach, the RPG layer of the game is still rewarding. After divorcing from the EA-owned Firemint, PQ developers Infinite Interactive resurfaced in July with a plan to resurrect the franchise.
UPDATE: One more price drop that I meant to include but completely forgot about this morning - for which I blame last night's adventure with Left Hand Brewery's Milk Stout. Puzzle action game Wild Wilf (which Lou reviewed a couple of weeks ago) got a major update adding some new control schemes the other day and is currently on sale for half price - it's just a buck.
