Another App Store scam: "Endless Space"

Nope. Nope.

Apple's approvals process has hit another one out of the park. I won't link to it, but there's a "game" called Endless Space on iTunes right now that borrows its name and promotional artwork from Amplitude Studios' PC 4X game. Reports from the poor suckers who bought it indicate that it's just a collection of jpegs.

I'm not even bothered that much about the obvious intellectual property infringement - Apple's approvals people can't realistically know every obscure trademark on the planet. I don't even expect the approvals team to lift an eyebrow at the LEGO Star Wars screenshot mixed in with the Endless Space ones.1

But is it so crazy to expect the approvals process to catch a slideshow of stolen pictures masquerading as a £1.49 game? We should expect better from Apple.

UPDATE: Perhaps we should cut Apple a break - as commenter J Lloyd L points out, IGN couldn't tell this was a fake app either. Maybe they haven't played LEGO Star Wars.

1Apple don't actually scrutinize the promotional screenshots, as far as I know.
