Fighting Fantasy Legends: Portal is out now: watch 80 minutess of gameplay

Hello everybody; I’M BACK! Many thanks to Ian for watching the shop while I was away. I’m kicking off my first day back after a brief vacation by playing some catch-up – there’s been some interesting bits and bobs that we haven’t covered yet.

The first of which is that Nomad Games and Asmodee Digital have released Fighting Fantasy Legends Portal on iOS and Android today! Portal is the pseudo-sequel to 2017’s Fighting Fantasy Legends, in which Nomand Games brought Ian Livingstone and Steven Jackson’s ‘Choose Your Own’ adventure gamebooks to digital in all its glory.

Portal offers up a new connected trilogy for players, although it’s not an expansion to the original game:

  • DEATHTRAP DUNGEON is an adventure through a deadly labyrinth. Countless adventurers before you have taken up the challenge, but none have survived.
  • TRIAL OF CHAMPIONS sees you return to the deadly labyrinth where new traps and terrors, mazes and monsters, await your every turn.
  • ARMIES OF DEATH approach from the east, and you must build up a force of veteran fighters to confront Agglax the Shadow Demon.

We don't have a review ready, but Asmodee showed off some Portal gameplay last night over on their official Twitch channel last night. If you missed the stream, we’ve embedded the archive for you below. It’s 1hr 20 mins long and the gameplay starts around the five minute mark:

We'll try and have reviews for this and the original FFL release ready as soon as possible. In the meantime, Nick should have some impressions ready for you in this week's Weekender.
