News by Numbers - December 4th, 201704 Dec 2017 0
Welcome to this week's edition of News by Numbers, where we highlight some of the can't-miss mobile gaming news each and every week.
Best Indie of 2017 on Google Play: 3 great games
The Google Play Store has their best of 2017 choices on display and the best indie games has three great Pocket Tactics games getting some love. First, is the fantastic solitaire style game Miracle Merchant which garnered a well-deserved five stars in our review. There's also the entertaining kind-of clicker Spaceplan which got four stars. Last but not least is action RPG Cat Quest, which also scored four stars, and is a definite candidate for game of the year.
Hearthstone Kobolds and Catacombs: 3 more days
Metagame shift inbound, Kobolds & Catacombs, a big Hearthstone expansion will be out this Thursday, December 7th. It's going to introduce some intriguing new single-player action in the form of the Dungeon Run mode and of course a boatload of cards, 135 to be exact. Blizzard is offering their standard $49.99 preorder special for 50 packs and a card back.
App Store Freeze: 4 days
Christmas is coming and with it an iTunes Connect freeze. Between December 23rd and 27th developers will be unable to submit new games or updates to existing games to the App Store. As a result, we can expect to see some extra games rushing out in the week before, and quite the pileup after the freeze. This doesn't mean Apple won't release games during this period and in fact, they may have a holiday surprise or two.
The Escapists: 10th prison
Life-in-prison sandbox game The Escapists has added yet another new and free prison, they just keep coming. This one is holiday themed and called "Santa's Sweatshop." The elves have suffered under Santa's thumb for twenty years and it's time to get out and get home. The Escapists is great fun and I suggest you read this exceptional 4-star review for more.
Civilization Revolution 2: 64-bit solution
2K Game's mobile take on the vaunted Civilization franchise is back on the App Store after a three month hiatus. Civilization Revolution 2 was a victim of iOS 11's demand for 64 bits and has been unplayable for anybody who updated their operating system. It's updated now, however, and safe for the future.
That's all for this week's news update. Have a good week!
