News by Numbers: January 22nd, 201822 Jan 2018 0
Welcome to this week's edition of News by Numbers, where we highlight some of the can't-miss mobile gaming news each and every week.
Battleheart 2: 2nd of 12 heroes
Another week, another hero revealed from Mika Mobile's forthcoming Battleheart 2. The game is high on my list of games to look forward to this year and they are fueling the anticipation by releasing previews of the twelve playable heroes. This week we've got Kaimani, the Ancient Flame, a wizard who specializes in burning all the things, and possessor of some classic Battleheart powers.
Brave Hand: 3rd mode of play
Bravehand — the push-your-luck card game by Heart Shaped Games, makers of Hero Generations — is a fun and casual card game. It's free to play with ads and a $3 IAP makes it a premium title by pulling the ads. There are two game modes at present, "Brave" and "Boost." Brave mode is the base game and boost lets you add in special extra cards that mess with the rules a bit. With its first major update to the game Heart Shaped Games is adding a third mode, "Zen", in response to player feedback suggesting the game could be a bit too difficult. Zen mode lets the player win ties, gives you more cards with which to play, and uses a larger deck.
Card Crawl: 6th mode of play?
When Arnold Rauers of TinyTouchTales fame publicly ponders adding Slay the Spire like deck-builder mode to Card Crawl I'm going to call it news. Hammer this tweet with love and support, gamers, and let Arnold know we want "Card Crawl: Adventure" to be a thing!
With Hearthstone Duneon Run and Slay the Spire being hype. I think a deckbuilder, rogue-like progression version of Card Crawl would be smart. We have delve mode but “Card Crawl: Adventure” with actual deckbuilding would be rad.— TiNYTOUCHTALES (@tinytouchtales) January 19, 2018
Google Indie Game Contest: 20 finalists
Google is bringing back its popular Indie Games Contest to help showcase some of the great 2017 titles created by indie studios. Google defines indies as any studio working in one of its 31 eligible countries operating with fewer than 30 full-time employees. There are a few Pocket Tactics favorites among the 20 finalists, including A Planet of Mine, Bridge Constructor Portal, and Kami 2. The finalists will showcase their games at an event on February 13th and the top ten will be featured on the Google Play Store.
The Room Old Sins: January 25
We're almost there. Fireproof Games is releasing the latest installment of their popular mystery puzzle series, The Room: Old Sins, on iOS this Friday. You can preorder it now, if you're inclined toward iOS preorders.
Pocket Build: 70 new items
Do you like Legos and Minecraft? Are you playing Pocket Build? If not, maybe you should change that. Pocket Build is a completely open-world sandbox-style builder game with a ton of building and world sculpting options and features frequent updates. The latest added 70 new items and also now allows you to drag and drop already built items you'd like to be elsewhere. It's a cool game and worth checking out if you're a fan of builders.
That's it for this week's mobile news round-up. Let us know if you've seen any other cool announcements, otherwise enjoy your week!
