Andrew J Smith, Appy Nation's PR guy, is naming and shaming sites that ask devs to pay them for app reviews. It's a twisted business proposition that makes a mockery of respectable media outlets.

If you're readingĀ Pocket Tactics, you probably don't need anyone's help to discern a proper review site from a pay-for-play mill that only exists to separate developers from their money. But these sites can only prey on people if they operate in the dark.

Check out my story in Wired, which features quotes from Plague Inc. dev James Vaughan and 10tons PR guy Jaakko Maaniemi - as well as a response from one of the sites in question.
