This War of Mine: The Little Ones coming to mobile and I'm already depressed

Last year's This War of Mine was one of the better games for iPad, and a truly visceral gut punch. Instead of focusing on the military aspects of war, TWoM focused on the horrors of being a civilian caught in its wake. The game was dark, brooding, and forced you to make choices that you didn't want to make. What This War of Mine was missing was children. 11 bit studios aims to fix that with the "sequel", This War of Mine: The Little Ones.

If the title alone didn't raise the hair on the back of your neck, the fact that they use photos of real kids for the child survivors should. Now, instead of ensuring your own survival in a world that seems impossible to bear, you have to ensure the safety of little kids as well. As someone who struggles with doing that while not living in a war zone, I'm not sure this game is for me.

Kids will need more than food and water to survive. You'll need to build them toys and other distractions to keep them occupied and away from the anarchy that surrounds you. And snipers. Well, snipers are part of the anarchy, but you get the picture.

This War of Mine: The Little Ones is already available for consoles, but will be coming to PC and mobile sometime in 2016.

If you want to get a taste of This War of Mine's grim reality before then, you can pick up the original title for iOS Universal ($4) and Android ($5).
