Weekend Price Drops: Liberal Semantics Edition

By Owen Faraday 09 Jun 2012 0
A couple of price drops of note this weekend: one that I recommend heartily (but it's not a strategy game) and one that I've posted solely to mention a much better game that, sadly, isn't on sale.

Total War Battles: Shogun

iTunes Store - $4.99, down from $6.99

Daimy-no

Total War Battles is a completely forgettable line war game whose one saving grace is its excellent art direction - the gameplay is as deep as a thimble. For a more comprehensive warning, consult my review from April. If you're a fan of castle defense titles or don't mind spending a fiver on something pretty but ultimately vapid, now's your chance. Fans of battlefield real-time strategy would do better to have a look at Autumn Dynasty, which is so much better at being a Total War game than the official adaptation that Sega ought to be embarrassed.

Zombie Gunship

iTunes Store - free, down from $0.99

That spooky feeling.

You have to do some Cirque du Soleil contortions with the definition of "strategy game" for Zombie Gunship to make sense on Pocket Tactics, but hey - get your own blog, pal. Zombie Gunship puts you behind the monochromatic night scope of an AC-130 gunship tasked with protecting the entrance to an underground refuge from a horde of the undead. It might be less tactical than our usual fare but it's a cracking good game that no one should say no to for free.
