Does Delta Force have controller support?
Yes, Delta Force does have controller support. This goes for the versions available on Steam Deck and Steam Deck alternatives - like the Asus ROG Ally. However, this isn't true for the mobile version. We spoke to Team Jade's game design director, Ricky Liao, about controller support in Delta Force Mobile, who says that "for now we do not support such devices as our stance on this topic is that play fair is a core value we'd like to uphold together with our community."
While this might be disappointing to hear, it seems that the door isn't completely closed when it comes to controller support. Liao adds that "of course, we will further fine-tune the rules along the way depending on community feedback." In a developer diary from December 2024, you can see a Team Jade employee using an Xbox controller to test the console iteration of the game, giving us hope for support in the future.
We attempted to use some of the best mobile controllers with Delta Force Mobile during its closed beta period, but they were unresponsive. Until Team Jade adds support, using the game's touch controls is the only way to play Delta Force Mobile. However, if you're playing the game on Steam, there is a way to get around it, albeit with some caveats.
How to play Delta Force with a controller on Steam Deck
If you're using Valve's handheld to play Delta Force, the good news is that a workaround exists to enable controller support. It isn't perfect by any means, but it will get you by until Team Jade rolls out an official update.
- Connect your controller via Bluetooth or USB to your Steam Deck
- Go to your Steam library and find Delta Force
- Tap the controller icon on the right side of the screen
- Tap the 'Enable Steam Input' option
- Find 'Button Layouts' and tap the "Keyboard and Mouse' tab
- Select a template
- Apply the template, and you're ready to use your controller in-game
