We’re very excited to get a Floatopia release date. Very excited. NetEase announced the Animal Crossing-like game at Gamescom Opening Night Live and revealed that the game lets build, decorate, socialize, dress up, and even use superpowers, all while sailing through the sky on your very own island settlement.

Floatopia release date speculation
Currently, there’s no solid release date for Floatopia. It’s scheduled for 2025, but there’s no smaller window than that just yet. Floatopia will be released on Nintendo Switch along with PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
What is Floatopia?
Floatopia is a delightful-looking game, filled with whimsy. It’s very Animal Crossing-y, with round-headed humanoid characters traversing an animated world with their own houses, gardens, and outdoor spaces to decorate. Really, this looks like a mix of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Fae Farm, making a perfectly enjoyable farm game.
It’s not all so wholesome, though – it’s called FLOATopia as everyone’s living on floating islands in the sky, after the world as they knew it ended. Here, life is idyllic. The trailer above shows that residents now fish, farm, and spend their days lazily living in the clouds. There are a few named characters like Fluffly and Mistika, who we’re sure to get to know in the future.
The trailer shows some really fun mechanics, like the ability to change the weather and use superpowers to vacuum up crops and help them grow. You can also terraform complete islands, and build anything you want, then decorate with plenty of furniture.
You can sail your island around to find other realms like an ancient town, a hotpot-themed island, or a wintery wonderland. These get added over time, so the game will continue to expand and have fresh content for a long time.
