Despite being hit games in their own right, Fortnite and League of Legends haven't crossed over much before. There may be 173 champions to-date in the ever-popular MOBA, but only two have made it to Fortnite's shop: Arcane's Vi and Jinx. That is, until now. According to reliable leaker HypeX, an Ahri skin is on the way, along with abilities. While this is cool for Fortnite players, the possible implications for League fans are numerous, so let's dive into our predictions for Ahri's involvement in the game.
Firstly, we could easily imagine that Ahri's arrival in Fortnite means that the rest of her virtual girl-group members, K/DA, will arrive too. This would allow Epic to pair their skins with any songs that they released - or indeed will release. After all, despite being a genuine massive success even outside of the League fanbase, the virtual K-Pop group hasn't released a song in six years, but with rumours of a comeback swirling, we think it would be pretty iconic if Fortnite played a helping hand in it.
Secondly, this could hint at a closer partnership between Riot Games and Fortnite. More League of Legends skins or songs could be on the way, and if the two companies find success, they could branch into Valorant skins, too. I was always a little surprised by the fact that it was just Jinx and Vi in the game - Arcane is massively popular, but I always felt that League could stand on its own two legs, too. If Epic has decided it can, then I'd hope to see other fan favorites hit the arena.
The third possible implication of this crossover is that Riot could have decided to focus a new TV series on Ahri, and possibly the rest of K/DA, too. We were told by Arcane showrunner Christian Linke that new shows are coming, including "investment" in the region of Ionia, which is, you guessed it, Ahri's original home. Given that the Fortnite Arcane skins are the only other League skins, could this be a way of soft launching her as a main character?
Whatever it means, Ahri's skin will be with us soon, and she'll have abilities, too. Strikingly similar to her actual kit in League of Legends, HypeX reports that she'll continue to have her orb powers and self-healing capabilities in the battle royale arena. It's time to show off your favorite fox-girl across multiple games.
