Re: Review: Darkest Dungeon

I think, outside of coercive circumstances, either you're doing a thing and responsible for how you do it, or you're not doing a thing. I definitely don't know what kind of external constraints you're under as Editor-in-Chief, but from the outside it appears logically inconsistent to: - be the highe...

Re: Review: Darkest Dungeon

I don't think DD is perfect, either, but perfect is not required for 5 stars under PT's policies - either formally, under the definition, or in the examples of previous 5 star RPGs. Rogue Wizards, which got 5 stars, offered merely adequate story, emotional engagement, and sound design. As a tactical...

Re: Review: Darkest Dungeon

"Same tier" is what I said, not "same." From PT's review policy: 4 Star = Generally Recommended – Apps that are given this rating present themselves well and have some smart ideas. A worthy candidate for your time and/or money. 5 Star = Highly Recommended – App is a paragon of justice and virtue, an...

Re: Review: Darkest Dungeon

This, Strike Team Hydra, and Galaxy of Pen and Paper are all 4 star games according to this site. I like Strike Team Hydra plenty well and really appreciate how accessible its developer is, but putting it on the same tier with Darkest Dungeon shows a failure of PT to quantify real differences betwee...

Re: Out Now: Hitting the Grape Juice Edition

Note that Leap of Fate has some fatal bugs that the developer has not solved in the three+ months since it's IOS release. If it works for you, it is a great game, but if you hit any signs of trouble get a refund ASAP rather than waiting for them to fix it.

Re: Re:

Regarding Lost Portal, did they ever address the issue of the finite amount of enemies to fight? For instance, once a dungeon is cleared, its always cleared? So if I make some poor choices in deck contruction and come up against an opponent I cannot beat, there is currently no way to "grind" exp, g...

Re: Next Pathfinder Adventures patch incoming next week, bringing next adventure deck with it

I am having much fun with the Monk and the Druid. Most people tell you the Druid is up but she is showing very great results after the first 2 scenarios. She takes a bit to get going but then she becomes really powerful. Also Animal Allies are fun. I have them with the Paladin who is effectie but a...

Re: Review: Pathfinder Adventures

It's a frequent complaint when looking at board game to app conversions, which frequently cause sticker shock in the IOS store. If you bought the tabletop game, you'd be spending roughly $40 for base box + $15x5 expansions + $15 for extra character deck. So... Once they squash the bugs, I'd argue it...

One way to think about my reaction to that quote is that it seems to hold the storytelling chops of their cards in rather higher esteem than is merited to claim that these are the stories the cards are telling. I'd probably have reacted better to that if it didn't seem like complimenting themselves...

<t>Have you ever played Yomi? An attempt to simulate a Street Fighter-style fighting game in card form. You have different cards, representing strikes/blocks/special moves, available to you at different times. The game's argument is not that they are simulating having certain buttons or joystick mov...
