Computer games score in that they usually include an opponent, the AI. Board and miniature games score in that their designs are open to manipulation, adjustment and bending. It's a great pity we can't have both.

I have never come across it in somebody else' game but have wondered about mechanisms by which this might be simulated. One might be to give spies, agents and intelligence officers the chance of spotting enemy units. In the case of intelligence officers that might be at sporadic and at ridiculously ...

Correct

The good thing about tabletop and board games is their flexibility. The computer-AI opponent is bought at the price of reduced flexibility, hence the need to rework.

So, that's the same map in different seasons?

CMX 1 used to do that. You made a map and it could change with the seasons.
