Whoop! I recorded the score on Challonge, forgot it was 2 out of 3

Any way that can be corrected?

Robthomasson over whovian223 89-86

Rob had an awesome last turn, and mine didn't quite compensate.

GG!!
I was genuinely surprised to win - which made it all the sweeter!

Now - this was actually the first game of a set of three. However whovian223 (no doubt in reaction to his narrow and unreasonable loss) has entered me in Challonge as the winner of our match-up.

I can't find a way to undo that - but perhaps geigerm can ...

Edit: whovian223 ninja'd me there.

All set--I had an option to "reopen" the match, which may only be available to the tourney organizer. Just re-entered your scores for the first set; you should be able to enter scores for your next game(s), though.

I also owe whovian223 a rueful smile if not an actual apology.

I have just remembered how lucky I was on my last turn ... what with that high value monster falling into place as I invoked the Wicked End. The extra honor bump lifted me into first place when that was not the way the game was going.

But I will take it :D

Forget it, Rob. It's Ascension.

Hardco over john1325 (2-1)

69-81
94-85
84-72

Close match, where I wasn't sure I won games two and three before final scoring. Thanks john1325!

I'm not a big fan of this expansion. Maybe I haven't played enough, but it seems like a lot of the cheap buys bog your deck down too much. This ends up with a lot of Mystic/Heavy Infantry buys, and makes Vigil's Resolve and the Sensai far better than any of the other early buys. Dreamscape reminds me of the Leaders expansion for Seven Wonders, where picking three cards is supposed to guide you down a particular path. However being at the mercy of the Ascension deck makes it pointless to try to force anything. The 3 cost heroes that can double either resource end up being pretty useless as a result. I find that you are usually better off just picking high impact dreamscape cards given the opportunity (free hero/free banish/free constructs, something that gives 10 honor, or a Vigil's Resolve).

I'm also not a huge fan of the expansion--I'd found the same thing with Sensei/Mystics/Infantry. Not sure I've ever put together a "good" deck--Dreamscape alone doesn't have enough banishing cards, I think.

It's been nice to play Ascension again, though. Maybe I'll organize a more vanilla Ascension tourney after this one's done.
