New Guy Needs Avice

Sun Feb 14, 2016 2:18 am

I have been away from computer war gaming for a while. Looking to come back. Please advise as to where to gather information on games, computer games. etc. Time period does not matter. I loved Harpoon and have played many other naval and WWII style games. Any direction will be appreciated. I am ravenous to begin researching it all. Even games with paintable miniatures are of interest.

Matrix Games, Battlefront Games, Shrapnel Games and HPS Simulations are a few websites that sell tons of different games!!!!! Roman Wars , American Revolution , Civil War ,WW 1 , WW 2 , Korea and Viet Nam are just some of the different periods that are available on these sites. There's something for everyone. HexWar sells games for IPads and phones, too!!!!!!!! Hope this helps!!!! Just Google these sites!!

Command Ops 2 (Lock'n Load publishing) and Steam and Iron (Naval Warfare Simulations) are both excellent choices and possibilities.

Be really careful with MNO. Make sure you know exactly what you are buying before you throw away your $80 USD.

Command – Modern Air/Naval Operations may have used Harpoon as a starting point but the innovations in graphics and interface mark it as a species apart. Is it perfect? Not yet. The game crashes once in awhile and the learning curve is steep for beginners. Very knowledgeable gamers are offering additions and corrections to the data bases. Fortunately, the developers are extremely friendly and open to suggestions. Improvements are sure to follow. This game stands heads and shoulders above any game released this year. If it is not named “Game of the Year” in its genre, then that accolade is meaningless.

To sum up: Although the $79.99 dollar price tag might seem a bit much, this game is well worth every cent of it. If you have even a passing interest in the subject matter. then this game is for you. Command: Modern Air/Naval Operations is, without a doubt, a seriously fun, intense, involving simulation of modern naval combat with nearly infinite replay value. It is a more than worthy successor to Harpoon.

Armchair General Score: 95%

And this was for 1.01 and 1.10 is almost here. http://www.warfaresims.com/?p=4110

Notice how the significant problems identified in v1.0 (Sept 30, 2013)

are still evident in v1.09, after 28 months.

Gee, you'd almost think the Harpoon series sees CMNAO as competition.
