We were pretty pleased with Out There at launch here on Pocket Tactics, but apparently Mi-Clos thought it needed a massive update some time later.

Power to the devs, but, while I thought the story elements were entertaining enough, I always want my story elements to be in the background to actual gameplay.

Well, so far it sounds like this won't be up your street. But what I'm hearing about Warlock of Firetop Mountain is making me feel like I should have an open mind about the gameplay of these game/book hybrids. It's usually not my favorite genre precisely because they often seem more like books than games, and aren't always such great books. It's quite likely to get a review once it's out, though; we'll let you know if it's got more gameplay to it than one might expect.

Come to think of it, I'd probably be down with a version of the Mass Effect series that just stripped out the running around and shooty bits.

Not to derail this thread entirely, but that right there is such a good idea. Out of curiosity, any know of any games/gamebooks that are at all similar to this concept?

I second the interest in this idea. Especially if it includes the some of the fabulous graphics. I think that's one of my issues with gamebooks is that they so rarely have decent (or any--I'm looking at you, Choice of Games)graphics. Even Choose Your Own Adventures used to have illustrations.

Thanks for the unlimited oxygen, Kelsey : )

Can confirm it is also now available on the appstore (at least on the Dutch appstore) for €2,99.

German AppStore too so might as well be released everywhere?
I like the art style...maybe I can finish this game without resorting to such shameful heresies as "easy difficulty" this time around ;-p
