Sounds like the writing in Crush Your Enemies is everything I'd feared it would be. The caricatural style of the character art alone left me with the feeling that someone had read Sergio Aragones' Groo (a very clever comic book about a very stupid barbarian) and missed the point entirely.

Even if the gameplay had been amazing on this one, the writing would have ruined it for me - thank you, Mark, for saving me the time and agony.

Comedy like this can be very hit and miss, and also very divisive. Looking at reviews elsewhere Mark seems to be in the minority, but yeah, it's not for everyone, and the mechanics themselves don't appear to be perfect either.
