Review: Warbits

Thu Apr 14, 2016 1:56 pm

There once was a very popular series of games released for Nintendo's series of handheld devices.

I remember reading somewhere that I could play a 3-player FFA game online. Is this still an option? Or if not, can we play 2v2 where three of us are real and 1 is an AI (I have two close friends that I game with if you couldn't tell)?

I haven't played it myself, yet, but their press kit does have this:

1v1, 2v2, and 3-4 player FFA

You can. I've just never started a 3v3 game. Had a few that soon ended up 3v3 though

A game that looks like the spiritual successor to Advance Wars has a launch sale AND gets a 5-star review on PT? Instabuy!

I had no idea this was out until I saw the review--what an awesome surprise!

I'm glad the AI is good. I rarely launch multiplayer for many busy-life reasons, but often spend half-hours in the subway. Warbits seems well suited for such a pace.

Having put hundreds of hours into the AW titles, I'm sort of glad my iPad is broken. Not completely sold on the art style of the maps at least, but other than that it sounds like a gem.

You may want to give multiplayer a try when you get network access as the turns are quite quick. I've also never had any of the multiplayer-dread that I often get when playing games like Outwitters or Hero Academy.

I like the art style in general but it also works to separate the game visually from AW and its clones.
