Thu Jul 21, 2016 3:00 pm

With the recent release of Battlefleet Gothic: Leviathan (BFG:L) a decade long dream of mine has come true: having all of the good about the sci-fi spaceship table-top game, without...

Excellent reading. This is what Pocket Tactics should be about.

I thought I had a pretty good handle on the game but I certainly learnt some stuff here. My biggest headache has been cleared up now I can predict how many dice I can expect from batteries.

@Snotty128 my thoughts exactly.
I know that the table I did there is really crude stuff but as I know from tabletop experience that impressive sounding WB broadsides are reduced to pea-shooter stuff really fast it was basically the first thing I wanted to read in the Codex after the tutorial. i'll try to reach the devs about maybe implementing a (better) table into the codex (or even better into the tutorial) to bring these facts front and center when deciding how to approach combat.

Edit:
The game was updatet recently, some bug fixes some polish and most of all:

Battles are now saved at the start of each sub-phase in Campaign, Skirmish and Hotseat modes. You can leave the game and continue the battle later!

That new feature is surely much appreciated by me.

Great news that the battles are now saved! Now, just a couple more things and this game is perfect:
1) Some kind of "Don't Waste My Time" option to speed up enemy movement and torps.

2) De-Nerf the Nova Cannon. Right now, you'd be a fool to choose any of the many Nova Cannon-equipped ships (rather than the ones with torpedoes). The thing just deviates way too much to be useful and its inner circle of destruction is so small that you're lucky to get off maybe 2 shots before they're inside min range and the NC goes from "Wunderwaffen" to "Useless" faster than you can say "What's this Phallic Symbol hanging off our prow?"

Actually, I'm wrong. It gets useless *way* faster than that.

Some great tips there.

I used to play the tabletop game in my youth as well.

A little tip i'd add is that an escort is automatically destroyed by any critical hit, so assault boats are devastating against escorts as are teleport attacks (after the main shooting phase it shows an icon of a space marine teleporting). Its a free kill.

I'm loving the game, l hope it is successful enough for them to add more fleets.

This just came in via Astropath:

BFG:L will be released on Google Playstore on 27th. July 2016.

Source:
Via official E-Mail Newsletter.

There will be also 2 new ships (one each for IN and Tyranids) as well
...which will be released via update to iOS soon as well.
From the Silhouette seen in the Newsletter I think the IN ship will be a new Battlecruiser (or a variant of the already existing ones)

BFG:L is out now on Android - while in my opinion only untrustworthy Necrons would use something called after a hunk of metal and plastic I still welcome them new players.

Meanwhile it has been announced which new additional ships will be avaialble at launch for Android BFG:L (and shortly thereafter in IOS as well):

Source: official BFG:L Facebook page.

The IN gets a Dominion Battlecruiser, while the Tyranids get a Gyreon Hive ship. While I appreciate the variety the new Battlecruiser provides (Launch Bays yaay) - I fear the Gyrean already (yet another Launch Bay equipped Monster boooo)
It seems the Tyranids will stay ahead on the Strike Craft front yet again....
