Review: Shieldwall Chronicles

Thu Mar 07, 2019 2:54 pm

A couple of years ago, Demon's Rise 2 was Pocket Tactics' RPG Game of the Year: a hex-based fantasy RPG laser-focused on complex tactical gameplay.

Shieldwall is Demon???s Rise 3 in all but name - and as far as I???m concerned, that???s awesome!

If you liked DR, this is more of the same - different characters, some spell/ability reuse, some monster reuse. Not a ton of reused assets - game and encounters feel fresh - but the lineage feels very familiar.

DR, DR2, and STA have given me many hours of enjoyment and halfway through shieldwall, I???m enjoying it just as much. I find the replay value on these games to be quite high Dash I???ve run through them to her three times with different groups, which is a lot of the fun.

Yeah I'm not sure why this issue keeps cropping up. It's on the to-do list but we only get so much bandwidth for development help at the moment, and we've got bigger fish to fry I'm afraid :(
