Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold leak gives us a first look at the new Android

There are plenty of changes coming to Google's upcoming foldable, and these new images offer a glimpse of the device from every angle.

We’ve seen plenty of leaks showing off Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 phones before the big launch, but so far, real-life images of the brand’s next foldable have managed to avoid the spotlight. Renders gave us a solid idea of what to expect, but we finally have confirmation on the design, following a Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold leak showing off first-look images for the phone.

The NCC, a Taiwanese regulatory agency similar to the FCC, accidentally leaked images of the entire series of new Google Pixel phones, including the elusive 9 Pro Fold. The images, uncovered by SlashLeaks, give us a clear look at the device from every angle, revealing key info about the battery and charging.

The biggest change, in terms of design, is the move to a rectangular camera unit, which is located in the upper-left corner of the phone, rather than the iconic camera bar that spans the width of the Google Pixel Fold. The dimensions have changed, too. The phone is about half an inch taller than its predecessor, and as a result, the foldable display has an almost square aspect ratio.

The cameras look like they’ll be a serious upgrade, too. You can clearly see that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is packing a telephoto camera, and there’s also an additional lens that we didn’t see on the original Fold. The camera unit protrudes quite a bit, and that’s usually a hint that large sensors are lurking within.

Another big change is with the interior selfie camera. Rather than being positioned in a chunky top bezel, the brand is using a punch-hole design, with the camera positioned in the corner of the display. It looks like the bezels have shrunken on all slides, so there’s no longer room for a selfie camera in the frame, but that also likely means a larger display.

The NCC listing also reveals battery information and says that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will house a 4560 mAh pack, comprised of an 1183 mAh pack and a 3377 mAh pack. There’s some info about charging, too, but it’s hard to glean much useful information from it. The report lists the charging speed as 20.25W, but that’s from a proprietary test and not the advertised charging speed. Given that the Pixel Fold has 30W charging, it seems likely that it’ll remain the same.
