Grow a Garden pets are more than cute little pals - they're also an important mechanic in this fun Roblox simulation game. They offer a variety of handy buffs and abilities, from increasing your plants' growth speed to digging up treasure and seeds for you. In this guide we dive into every single pet in the game, how to get them, and more.

Of course, you'll need plenty of sheckles if you want to pick up all those pets, so be sure to check out our Grow a Garden codes to see if there are any freebies up for grabs. We've also got a guide to all the Grow a Garden mutations so you can work out which crops are worth tending to.

Here's everything in our Grow a Garden pets guide:

What are Grow a Garden pets?

Grow a Garden pets are animal companions with unique abilities that help you grow your garden. These abilities include finding seeds for you, speeding up your plants' growth, and more. In most cases, having multiple copies of the same pet can stack their abilities, though there are some pets with abilities that don't stack, such as the owl.

Pets come in six different rarities, with the rarer pets generally offering more useful abilities. They are:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Legendary
  • Mythical
  • Divine

How do I get Grow a Garden pets?

The main way to get pets in Grow a Garden is to purchase and hatch eggs. You can learn more about all the different types of eggs, where to get them, and how to hatch them in our full Grow a Garden egg guide.

You can buy pet eggs from the Pet Egg shop with either in-game currency (sheckles) or Robux. There are also some pets that you can obtain through event milestones and shops, but they're usually only available for a limited time.

Beyond that, you can trade pets with other players - just be very careful not to fall for a scam, as the trading system in Grow a Garden doesn't require anything in return, and there's no way of getting your pet back after you give it away (unless the player you give it to decides to give it back, of course!).

How many pets can I have in Grow a Garden?

At the start of the game, you only have three pet slots in your garden, but you can unlock an additional five slots by trading in pets. However, the pets need to be over a certain age for them to unlock a pet equip slot when you trade them in.

You can also hold a maximum of 60 pets in your inventory. You can bypass this limit by keeping unhatched eggs in your inventory or garden, but remember that you need to have a free pet slot before you can hatch an egg. Also keep in mind that pets in your inventory won't use their abilities, gain experience, or age.

Here are the requirements for unlocking each additional Grow a Garden pet equip slot:

  • +1 slot - trade in a pet aged 20+
  • +2 slots - trade in a pet aged 30+
  • +3 slots - trade in a pet aged 45+
  • +4 slots - trade in a pet aged 60+
  • +5 slots - trade in a pet aged 75+

Alternatively, you can purchase additional pet equip slots with Robux.

How do I increase my Grow a Garden pet's age?

Grow a Garden pets age over time by gaining experience. As a pet gets older, its trait improves (generally by reduced cooldowns, increasing chances, etc). However, the older a pet gets, the more experience it requires to age up. A pet can't age if its hunger bar reaches 0.

You can view your pet's age by clicking on it and selecting 'view', by picking it up and looking at it in your inventory, or by tapping the << button on the right side of your screen.

How do I feed my Grow a Garden pets?

You can feed your Grow a Garden pets by clicking on them and hitting the 'feed' button while holding any fruit or crop. As mentioned above, you need to keep your pets fed in order to age them as they can no longer grow when their hunger bar reaches 0.

When you feed a pet, you get a message on the screen showing the percentage of hunger that food has restored. The amount of hunger a piece of food restores depends on its type, size, and any mutations, with larger, rarer fruits and crops with unique mutations generally filling the bar up further.

The size of a pet's hunger bar depends on their rarity. You can view a pet's hunger by hovering over it in your garden, clicking on the pet and tapping the 'view' button, or opening the pet menu by tapping the << button on the right side of your screen.
