The iPhone 16 announcement date is just a few days away now, but we suspect we may have just been given a nod to the series’ release date. Apple has recently announced plans to open the Apple Mall of Scandinavia on September 20, which seems like a perfect event to coordinate with the physical release of its latest flagship line.
The iPhone 16 is expected to be announced on Monday, September 9 during Apple’s latest special event. However, there is usually a delay of a couple of weeks between the announcement and the release date itself. This would line up very nicely with the Scandinavian mall’s opening, which means that we could have what could be one of the best 5G phones of 2024 in our hands before the start of October.
With the launch of the iPhone 16 fast approaching we’re excited to see a brand-new ‘capture’ button feature for an upgraded set of cameras, as well as a much speedier A-series chip powering Apple’s newest line of smartphones. The iPhone 16 is also expected to launch with Wi-Fi 7, offering superior connectivity and bandwidth, and with noticeably larger sizes for the Pro models, it’s looking to be Apple’s biggest and best launch yet. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Releasing the iPhone 16 at the same time as the store opens would make business sense. This is because the store would have to go through an entire marketing overhaul to include signage for the new iPhone if the series launched after the store’s opening. This seems as though it would be counterproductive for the opening of a new store, so it stands to reason that the Swedish store will open with the iPhone 16 ready to go. Plus, it creates even more of a buzz for the Apple Mall of Scandinavia’s opening.
The Apple event on September 9 is expected to reveal four new iPhones in the 16 line, showcasing upgrades to the camera and the inclusion of Apple Intelligence, as well as details about the processor, other design changes, and pricing. The event will be streamed at 10am PT/1pm EST/6pm BST, and we’re hoping to see an official release date along with all of the hardware and software information. You can watch the stream on Apple’s website, or on the Apple TV app.
