Is Monopoly Go down? It looks like one of our favorite mustachioed men (not you, Mario) encountered some issues on February 6, as reports of players being unable to log into Scopely’s hit mobile game skyrocketed.
During the downtime, while you could launch the game and even seemingly get as far as claiming rewards, you couldn’t actually play Monopoly Go. After a few moments of animations and pop-ups, you were met with an error screen that says ‘We’re sorry, an error occurred requiring the game to restart’.
If you hit the big, green ‘OK’ button, you found yourself stuck in the same loop of pop-ups and animations, repeatedly claiming all those same goodies. How cruel.
In a post on the official Monopoly Go X account, Scopely announced the following:
“Tycoons! We’re aware that some players are experiencing issues in Monopoly Go!. Our team is actively working on a fix to resolve this issue as soon as possible. We’ll update you as soon as we have more info! Thanks for your patience!”

Meanwhile, players everywhere flocked to sites like DownDetector to report the Monopoly Go outages and sharing their disappointment at not being able to play the current Monopoly Go events.
Luckily, the game wasn’t down for too long, and appears to be back up and working as normal now. Of course, we’re all hoping that Scopely will offer compensation freebies – after all, that’s the standard set in other mobile games like Genshin Impact, Infinity Nikki, and Wuthering Waves.
However, while Scopely hasn’t commented on whether there will be any extras up for grabs yet, we’re just glad that there’s still enough time to participate in the Monopoly Go Roll and Conquer and Tycoon Racers events – and, of course, plenty of free Monopoly Go dice to claim!
