Ninja Must Die is available now, bringing a combat-focused twist to the endless runner genre. Playing as one of four ninjas, you’ll dodge and slash your way through enemy-filled levels, using special skills and abilities to take down anything in your path. And while endless running is an option, you’ll find plenty more to play with here, from the engaging story mode to RPG elements that will help you become the greatest ninja alive. It’s fast-paced, frantic fun – and you don’t have to play it all on your own, either.
A major addition to the Ninja Must Die feature list is multiplayer. At the main menu you’ll notice that you can add friends with whom you can share items to build your friendship level and compare your progress in the main game. There’s more to Ninja Must Die’s multiplayer offering than just this, however.
Squad up
Ninja Must Die’s main multiplayer component is the pulse-pounding 3v3 duels. In this team-based multiplayer mode you can form teams with two buddies (or strangers) to take on another team in ninja-running races. This asymmetrical multiplayer mode will see both teams run one of several different courses to see who can complete the course and defeat the boss first.
The match ends when one of the teams successfully defeats the boss, or when one team falls, in which case the opposing team will be declared the winner by default. As you take on other teams, all your ninja skills will be tested, requiring perfectly timed jumps, and mastery of your combat moves to defeat enemies in the quickest and most efficient way possible.
As you speed through the levels, you’ll collect goldfish coins that can be used to purchase skill cards which will enhance all aspects of your character. You can pick which skill cards that will be available to you before the match begins, so you can tailor the boosts to your individual playstyle. On higher difficulty settings, you can also ban specific specific cards, to put your opponents at a disadvantage.
Skill check
When it comes to skill cards, there are a huge variety of options at your disposal, with rarer cards coming at a higher price. Will you choose higher value cards with the chance that you won’t gather the sufficient funds, or will you play it safe with a selection of more common, low-cost boosts? Choosing the right combination could hold the secret to victory.
Skill cards come in a variety of flavours, each offering different stat boosts or status effects that will assist you in battles. Some offer simple stat boosts like increased attack or health points, whereas others offer more specific modifiers. For example, Panacea will restore a bit of HP and ninjutsu energy, as well as reducing weapon cooldown – a pretty handy ability to have.
Other skill cards offer buffs or relief from status ailments. Others can grant shields or even sabotage the other team by obscuring their vision or reducing their attack power. Will you play dirty, or focus on your own individual performance?
As your rank increases, you’ll unlock card packs full of skill cards, thereby increasing the options available to you. Finding the perfect combination of skill cards to suit your playstyle is paramount to achieving victory in the Duel Arena. New seasons bring new challenges and rewards, so make sure to keep checking back to earn your way to glory.
