A new leak suggests a Nintendo Switch 2 power upgrade compared to the current console, as shipping manifests list the device as needing a 60W charger. A second cooling fan is also rumored to be built into the Switch successor’s dock, suggesting improved specs.

As fans impatiently wait for more official information on the Nintendo Switch 2, leakers are coming out in full force to keep us occupied with new tidbits. This new leak comes from the popular Nintendo message board Famiboards (thanks, Tom’s Guide) and matches up with the existing Nintendo Switch 2 hardware leak about the console’s improved RAM and internal storage.

Of course, we should always take these leaks with a pinch of salt and wait on any official announcements from Nintendo, but these reported spec upgrades could hint at big changes for the Switch’s successor. An additional cooling fan almost always points to higher processing power in a device, but the choice to put the fan in the dock specifically suggests additional support for running high-end games on your TV at home.

As for the charger upgrade, this could suggest higher charging speeds closer to some of the best portable gaming consoles like the Steam Deck and the Asus ROG Ally X. The Switch can currently take up to 39W of power but reportedly charges at 18W, so this significant upgrade could push the Switch 2 past its competitors, even if it doesn’t charge at the full 60W.
