It’s what we’ve all been waiting for, and it’s now official – the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming on June 5th, 2025. We’ve heard plenty of rumors, we’ve been living off whispers and speculation for months, and after what feels like an eternity, we finally know when we’ll be able to get our hands on Nintendo’s next-gen handheld console. Now that we know when to mark our calendars, we’re expecting a landslide of announcements and trailers to really ramp the excitement up.
With the Switch 2 release date officially confirmed, we’re eagerly sorting out our Switch 2 pre-orders and going through our library of the best Switch games. We already know that the successor to Nintendo’s original handheld is backward-compatible, so we can play all of our existing games on the bigger and better console, but we’ve also got mountains of new Switch games to get excited about.
After this latest Nintendo Direct, we’ve also got a double serving of Treehouse streams to look forward to in the days following, with literal hours of gameplay trailers and presentations to enjoy. Now that we know when we can get our hands on the Switch 2, the hype for new games is higher than ever, and we can’t wait to see how they play on the new and improved console.
The Switch 2 has already promised us a huge boost in graphic capabilities and performance, and while there are so many amazing upcoming Switch games to get excited about, we’re also intrigued to see how massive titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim fare with the increased framerate and superior processing that the Switch 2 offers. Either way, the future is bright for all of us handheld gamers.
