The long wait is nearly over, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl release this week, and the team at Niantic is keen to celebrate the occasion in Pokémon Go. As detailed in a blog post, the new event runs all week long, treating trainers everywhere to new outfits, costumed Pokémon, frequent encounters, and more.

Pokémon Go’s BDSP celebration introduces new costumes for the starting Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl – Chimchar, Turtwig, and Piplup. You can encounter all three of the generation four creatures in either Lucas or Dawn’s hat, and they look very dapper if we do say so ourselves. They’re available from November 16 to November 21. Should you collect all of the outfits, you receive 1,000 XP and 3,000 stardust. Or, if you fancy giving your avatar a new look, you can purchase Sinnoh attire from November 15.

There are two parts to the main event, with Pokémon Go celebrating Pokémon Brilliant Diamond first. Between November 16 and November 18, various Pokémon appear more frequently, including Seel, Murkow, Poochyena, Aron, Bidoof, Kricketot, Buneary, and Stunky. Or, if you’re lucky, you could find a Scyther, Larvitar, Burmy, or Buizel. You can also look forward to a range of raids, 7km eggs, and field research task encounters.

Next, from November 18 to November 21, it’s all about Pokémon Shining Pearl in Pokémon Go. Much like the days centring on Brilliant Diamond, there’s a variety of Pokémon appearing in the wild more frequently – Pinsir, Misdreavus, Houndour, Spheal, Bidoof, Buneary, and Glameow. In addition, lucky trainers may encounter Slowpoke, Bagon, Buizel, and Burmy. Once again, you can enjoy many raids and field research.
