Here’s everything you need to know about mighty Pokémon in Pokémon Go:
What are mighty Pokémon?
Mighty Pokémon in Pokémon Go are stronger-than-usual wild Pokémon that have a range of shared traits. As well as being more difficult to capture than regular Pokémon and always appearing in their fully evolved form, mighty Pokémon share the following features:
- They are more likely to be XL or XXL
- They have a minimum 13/13/13 guaranteed IVs
- They are level 40 or above
You can identify a mighty Pokémon by the yellow circular effect that appears around them on the overworld map. Mighty Pokémon’s CP is also always hidden on the catch screen, showing “!!!” instead of a number or a question mark.
Where can I find mighty Pokémon?
You can currently find mighty Pokémon in the wild as part of the Pokémon Go Wild Area Global event, but it’s unclear if they will stick around after the event ends.

How do I catch mighty Pokémon?
Mighty Pokémon are much harder to catch than standard Pokémon in Pokémon Go, so you’ll need to employ some special tips to increase your chances. We recommend using Go Safari Balls and Golden Razz Berries to help you catch mighty Pokémon. Stronger balls like the Pokémon Go Master Ball and Ultra Ball are also good options, but the Go Safari Ball is specifically designed to catch mighty Pokémon, and it’s only around for the duration of the Wild Area.
How do I get Pokémon Go Safari Balls?
During the Wild Area, every trainer will receive a timed research task that awards a small number of Go Safari Balls, and you can also find them by spinning photo discs on Pokéstops and gyms during the event if you’re lucky.
If you’re running low on Go Safari Balls, you can purchase more from the Pokémon Go Web Store or in-app. You can also get more of these special Pokéballs if you buy the Wild Area timed research pass.
