Number six in the Pokédex is Charizard, one of the original dragon evolutions in the game. He's the mascot of both Pokémon Red and FireRed, and back in the TCG's early days, he was considered one of the strongest available Pokémon. Now, he remains a staple for new players and is loved for being an iconic part of the franchise.

Charizard's evolutions

Charizard is the final evolution of gen 1's fire starter. Charmander evolves into Charmeleon at level 16, before turning into Charizard at level 36. Charizard can then mega evolve, and has some alternative forms, namely Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y. These can be attained using Charizardite X or Y. It can also become Gigantamax Charizard with the Gigantamax Factor.

Charizard's type strengths and weaknesses

As with all Pokémon, Charizard is particularly strong and weak against specific types of damage. It takes double damage from its three weaknesses, and half damage from the six it is resistant to. This should help you when in battle with or against a Charizard.
