Squirtle is the original cutie-patootie of the Pokémon franchise - this guide will tell you everything you need to know about it.

Squirtle Pokemon looking happy against a water type pocket tactics background

Pokémon's Squirtle is the seventh entry into the Pokédex, and it's one of the three Pokémon you can get as a starter in the very first entry into the series, Pokémon Red/Blue. As such, it's an iconic figurehead of the series, and one you may overlook if you're looking to build a team. This guide can help you figure out if and where Squirtle will fit into your squad.

The Squirtle evolution, with Wartortle and Blastoise

Squirtle's evolution

Such an iconic Pokémon has to have iconic evolutions, and consequently, at level 16, Squirtle evolves into Wartortle. A Wartortle can then become a Blastoise at level 36, ending the Squirtle main lineage - but Blastoise is a powerful addition to your team that can be made Mega with Blastoisinite, or made Gigantamax with the Gigantamax Factor.
