Boy, that was some ending to Poppy Playtime Chapter 5, huh? The wait for Broken Things was more than worth it, with the latest instalment in Mob Entertainment's series offering many important answers, while managing to raise more questions. So, we're here to tell you everything you need to know about PPC5.

While there are new Poppy Playtime characters to familiarize yourself with, it's also vital that you learn everything you can about Poppy Playtime's Prototype - trust me, you learn so much about him in Broken Things, and it's important to fully understand his lore and backstory.

When was the Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 release date?

Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 came to PC via Steam and Epic Games on February 18, 2026. We don't have word on the console release yet, but Mob Entertainment has confirmed it's coming to other platforms. As soon as we know more, we'll let you know.

What is Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 called?

The name of Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 is Broken Things, which makes perfect sense when you play through the chapter and realize what's going on. So many things in the Poppy Playtime universe are fractured, and I don't just mean broken toys (though those certainly play a part), but I mean the lore, backstory, and emotional state for some of the characters, too.

Is there a Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 trailer?

Yes, there are several trailers for Broken Things, giving us a glimpse at what we might expect from the chapter. The first is simply a teaser, offering you a look at The Labs, the location you find yourself in after the events of Safe Haven.

The second is a cinematic trailer that's quite haunting, following Poppy as she runs through the vents and hears various voices, including the Prototype.

The third trailer gives us the most complete look at The Prototype since his introduction, without fully revealing his true form, and it is terrifying. We also see plenty of evidence of him torturing various toys in The Labs.

The fourth trailer finally shows you Lily Lovebraids in all her glory, along with a bigger emphasis on the Prototype, who looks directly at you through a broken mirror at the end of the trailer.

How long is Poppy Playtime Chapter 5?

If you're just in it for the story, Broken Things can take somewhere between two and a half to three hours, maybe longer depending on how quickly you can solve the puzzles. However, you can slap an extra hour or two on top of that, at least if you intend to explore every nook and cranny, which I recommend, so you don't miss anything. There are various collectibles to find beyond documents and tapes, so if you want to 100% the chapter, you absolutely need to be thorough when you look around.

Who is the Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 villain?

There are numerous villains to be wary of in Broken Things: Lily Lovebraids, Huggy Wuggy, and the Prototype. Yes, you finally get to officially meet Experiment 1006, who serves as the primary villain of the chapter, and, presumably, will take up the mantle of being the primary villainous focus in the next installment, too. You learn a lot of crucial information about the Prototype throughout Broken Things, with questions about him finally getting answers.

While the Prototype is the primary antagonist, Lily Lovebraids and Huggy Wuggy serve as secondary villains, with the latter seeking revenge after what happens to him at the end of A Tight Squeeze. Huggy's role involves various segments in which he chases you, and you have to evade him. As for Lily, she also gives chase after forcing you to attend a tea party with Kissy Missy and Poppy.

What is Poppy Playtime Chapter 5's story?

WARNING: major spoilers below.

The story of Broken Things follows on from everything you've experienced so far, except you're now in the domain of Experiment 1006, after falling into The Labs at the end of Safe Haven. The story picks up directly where Chapter 4 left off, with you needing to escape an enraged Huggy Wuggy. Eventually, the Wugster corners you in an elevator and comes awfully close to capturing you, but all he manages to do is grab the grabpack.

You stumble your way through a meat storage area populated by Wrongside Experiments, but a new pal, Giblet, rescues you, taking you to his hideout to talk out of reach of the Prototype, who you witness kill one of the Outimals. Giblet tells you where to find a new grab pack, and on your way to securing the grabpack, you pick up a new tool in the form of a star-shaped flashlight. Eventually, you not only get the replacement grabpack, but you get new hands for your troubles.

When you reunite with Giblet, another new face, Chum Chompkins, tries to eat you, until Giblet tells him that you're a friend. Chum is a spy working for the Prototype but reporting to the toys who want to put an end to the madness in the factory. After you find some research notes, the Prototype turns up, but luckily, Chum hides you in his mouth.

After that situation, it's time for you to head to Sweet Street, which is where you end up meeting Lily Lovebraids, but not before you discover more about the heinous experiments Playtime Co. conducted, experiencing them through Huggy Wuggy's eyes, which culminates in you running from the toy once more. Upon reaching Sweet Street and working your way through the area, Lily Lovebraids captures you and takes you to her home.

There, you discover that she's holding Poppy and Kissy Missy hostage. After some shenanigans, she forces the three of you to attend her tea party, where you get to meet her guest of honor, Experiment 1006. The showdown results in serious damage to Poppy, while Kissy Missy attacks the Prototype, allowing the three of you to get away, except Lily Lovebraids is hot on your heels, leading to another chase sequence.

After escaping Lily, you reunite with Giblet, Poppy, and Kissy, which results in your going on a quest to find the backup. You encounter Huggy Wuggy once more, but luckily, you bump into Kissy, who successfully calms Huggy down, the two of them bonding in a nice scene - until the Prototype appears and stabs them both, seemingly killing them. Following this, the Prototype chases you on a train, which you ultimately crash in a desperate effort to stop Experiment 1006.

You fail. After everyone emerges from the wreckage, the Prototype kills you and takes off with Poppy, dropping you in a vat of goo. Luckily, Giblet somehow revives you, and the pair of you head to the data center, where you find both the backup data and a backup of Harley Sawyer, who tells you, "Well, now, this is an interesting turn of events."

That, my friends, is where Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 ends, giving a clear indicator that this nightmare isn't over for us yet. All we can do now is wait for Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 and put some theories together on what we might expect from the next installment. An enemy turned reluctant ally seems to be on the cards, and we have no doubt that more surprises await us, too, along with new characters.
