Poppy Playtime is easily one of the best horror franchises to emerge in recent years, and I'm not ashamed to admit that Mob Entertainment has me wrapped around its little finger. After every chapter, I eagerly await word on the next installment. Well, if I wasn't excited before, the new Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 cinematic trailer has me on the edge of my seat.
While the previous Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 trailer offered a look at what you can expect after the concluding moments of Safe Haven, with the returning Huggy Wuggy clearly having a bone to pick with you, the new trailer focuses entirely on Poppy herself. You get to see what this coward is up to straight after she abandons you and Kissy Missy in Chapter 4 - no, I'm not being harsh, she abandoned her friends, that's cowardly.
Lasting just under one minute, the trailer shows Poppy running through the ventilation system when an ominous, booming voice tells her, "It's time to come home." That voice clearly belongs to the Prototype, who you see periodically throughout the video. You can also hear the voice say "I'm going to find you," as the Prototype's leg comes into view, leading Poppy to run in a different direction.
A shadowy figure then jumps out at Poppy in the vents, but it clearly isn't the Prototype, as, from the glances we've seen of him in the past, he's much too big to fit in there - so, that begs the question, who is this toy? Is it the villain of Chapter 5, or is it a minor antagonist? It's hard to say, but I think it's a random toy you might encounter in PPC5, as you get a small peek at, who I presume is the major antagonist, at the end of the trailer.

She tells Poppy that "we're going to have so much fun," though, to be honest, from seeing her hair, I was half expecting her to belt out "we're going up, up, up it's our moment." Yes, the purple, braided hair very much reminds me of Rumi from KPop Demon Hunters; perhaps this is what really happens after the movie - her demon half is a bit more evil than anyone could ever guess.
However, perhaps I'm being too quick to judge, and maybe she's really a friend, as there are some potential allies for you in the deepest, dankest parts of the Poppy Playtime factory, but can you truly trust them? Honestly, the only toy I trust right now is Kissy Missy, who gave her arm to try and save us at the end of Chapter 4.
I can't wait to see what this horror game has in store for us. We know that it features clever puzzles to make use of your GrabPack, with new tools for you to discover. But, honestly, it's the lore that interests me the most, and, after that cinematic trailer, I can't wait to unravel some of Playtime Co.'s most closely guarded secrets.
