Rematch lands a goal and there's a big discount to celebrate

Rematch is the soccer game of my dreams, and this more involved version of the sports genre has got a huge sale to entice you.

Rematch on Steam Deck, with some of the football boys coming out of the screen.

I'm not a big soccer fan, and I've never loved EA's copious amounts of FIFA games - it feels too impersonal, controlling random A-list footballers with an eagle's eye view of the pitch, hoping to score a goal with precision, yet not having too much indication. Rematch feels like the soccer fix I, and many others, have been waiting for - and it's now got a massive sale just after launch on Steam Deck and other handheld PCs.

The quick pace, cartoon-style visuals, and heart-pumping action make Rematch one of the best Steam Deck games right now. Instead of trying to be a pseudo-strategy game like many of the best football games, Rematch puts you into the role of a customized player, allowing you to get involved and immersed in the action of each match.

This game is up to the usual standard I'd expect from Sloclap, the studio that created Sifu (one of my favorite fighting games). Each match is an intense, tight experience as you aim to conquer the pitch and score as many goals as you possibly can in fast-paced 5v5 games. You can even show off with some trick shots once you've learnt how to master them.

I've sunk plenty of hours into the game already, spending my time on my handheld console and enjoying the early access period for Rematch. Finally, the game is out for everyone, and I'm not the only one loving it.

In our Rematch review, Sam Comrie calls it "the best sports game you'll play this year", saying that "each goal [feels] like an out-of-body experience."

If you're hoping to get onto the pitch as soon as possible, you can already get a great discount on this sports game. Rematch is just $25.79/£18.05 on Fanatical, but you can also get the higher two editions of the game for $34.39/£25.79 and $42.99/£33.53, respectively. Those two give you the base game, as well as a bunch of extra cosmetics and some upgrades of the battle pass to the premium option. If you're going to spend months playing the game, it might be worth opting for the more expensive edition to save money on the premium rewards.

After enjoying the wind in your hair and scoring some gnarly goals in Rematch, you may be looking for something a bit different.
