Leon Kennedy returns in Resident Evil Requiem

One of gaming's biggest icons makes his return in the next instalment in Capcom's iconic survival horror series.

Resident Evil Requiem Leon: a man looking upwards

Leon Kennedy is back. I repeat, Leon Kennedy is back. At The Game Awards 2025, Capcom confirmed the rumors, putting us all out of our misery as it showed that the iconic character is indeed in Resident Evil Requiem.

Hype for the new Resident Evil game is already through the roof, with Grace Ashcroft already picking up some loyal fans of her own. But, as she's a character who lacks a certain sense of badassery, it's fantastic to see Resident Evil's Leon make a comeback.

Yes, not only is he in the game, but you get to play as him, too. The new trailer shows that Leon is a lot more combat-heavy, bringing the action side of things to Requiem, while Grace appears to rely a bit more on stealth.

It's especially interesting after recent leaks suggested that Rose Winters would be the secondary playable protagonist, but she might have just been a red herring.

All I know is that I can't wait to get my hands on Resident Evil: Requiem when it releases next year, and with pre-orders opening today, February feels closer than ever. The inclusion of Leon means it's already going to be a top contender for my personal GOTY in 2026.
