With Saint Seiya Ex's recent global launch, it's understandable that you may not be as on top of the meta as you would like to be. That's why this Saint Seiya Ex tier list should help you to decide which Saints are worth summoning, and which are likely bench fillers. As with many gacha games, the most useful characters are behind a gacha paywall, but we'll include a mix of characters in each tier to help you figure out how to get the most bang for your buck.
The Saint Seiya series is one of the most beloved franchises and consistently produces some of the best mobile games around. Saint Seiya Ex is also particularly good, as it's viable as a free mobile game, so don't break the bank trying to pull for characters you want.
How to use this tier list
This tier list is not definitive because each player has a unique playstyle and should use the characters they like, but we've based our choices on our own testing and player feedback. However, if you are intending to use what's best in the meta, keep an eye on position on the field. Each Saint has a position - they're either front, middle, or back row fighters. This depends on whether they're short, medium, or long-range characters.
You should also consider character synergy, as the combination of Saints goes a long way in making them powerful units. As such, if you pick out some of the S-tier characters, they may not go well together, so consider using the ones lower down on the list. You can find character synergy inside a character's stat menu.

How do I roll for Saints in Saint Seiya Ex?
Summoning Saints is super easy in Saint Seiya Ex - but you have to make it to level seven first, probably to stop users from uninstalling the game if they don't get what they want. Anyway, level up, acquire some Recruitment Tickets, then press 'Recruit'. After that, it's a matter of selecting a banner. We recommend starting with the standard one, just for ease of figuring out the system, before you begin recruiting from limited ones.
How do I get SSR Saints in Saint Seiya Ex?
Any character, regardless of how rare or limited they are, can become an SSR unit. That doesn't mean they were all made equal, but it does mean you can succeed even if you don't pay for the best units. You can do this via the process of Awakening. In order to Awaken your Saints, you need to fill three 'Awaken tasks', which usually involve leveling the character up, becoming closer to them, and raising their tiers.
After you fulfil these conditions, you need to promote them to the maximum number of stars. Then, gather Essence of Will and Awakening Stones, the latter of which are character-specific. Get the Essence from the PvP Master section of the store, and you can usually get the Awakening Stones from events, story play, and other such things. As the game releases in full, more ways to collect items will become available, so don't worry about it too much for now.
