Say what you want about the videogames community, but people come together every year to support speedrunners as they take part in various Games Done Quick events, all while parting with their hard-earned cash, which in turn goes to a variety of charities.

If you’re a fan of speedruns, you likely know that SGDQ 2022 took place between June 26 and July 3, during which more than $3 million was raised for charity. This time around, the money goes to Doctors Without Borders. This means that since the Games Done Quick tournaments began in 2010, more than $40 million has been raised through these competitions.

As part of Summer Games Done Quick, many speedrunners take to the stage in an attempt to beat records and set incredible times on their favourite games. Popular titles include pretty much any title by From Software, Alien: Isolation, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot. However, when it comes to Switch games, Kirby and The Forgotten Land and Link’s Awakening are the stars of this year’s show.

When is the next Games Done Quick event?

The next Games Done Quick tournament, known as Flame Fatales 2022, is between August 21 and August 27. You can learn more about the event through the Games Done Quick website.
