If you're a big fan of Squad Busters, we've got bad news. The multiplayer casual action game from Supercell is shutting down, despite only arriving on Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store just 18 months ago. The developer isn't switching the servers off right away, with one final update planned for December 2025, but a new statement suggests that we'll be saying goodbye before the end of next year.
For those who don't know, Supercell is the developer behind massively popular mobile games such as Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars. Given the success of those titles, we expected Squad Busters to go on to similarly great heights after its May 2024 launch, but in the developer's own words, "the game did not meet the high expectations that both you, our players, and we at Supercell have for our games."
Supercell revealed the demise of Squad Busters via a press release on its official website. It also revealed that, as of October 30, 2025, in-app purchases are no longer available. If you've spent money on the game this year, you're entitled to request a transfer of the purchase value to one of the developer's other games, including Clash Royale and Clash of Clans. You can find the full instructions on how to request to claim the transfer via the Supercell site.
While the statement from Supercell sheds light on the reasoning behind the end of Squad Busters, the developer has promised to publish an in-game Q&A on November 13 to explain the decision in more detail. You can even send in your own questions, using a form that you can find in the press release, if there's anything specific you want to glean from the team behind the game before the lights go out for good at some point in 2026. I'm just sad we won't get to see any more Squad Busters adverts full of unlikely celebrity cameos.
