Stardew Valley Krobus guide

Stardew Valley’s Krobus can be your friend just like any other character, so let’s look at his favorite gifts and how to become roommates.

Stardew Valley Krobus in front of a house surrounded by trees and positioned next to a river with a waterfall

Stardew Valley’s Krobus is one of the most interesting characters in the entire game, mainly because he isn’t human. Rather, Krobus is the only nice monster around, being more than happy to give you a bunch of useful items – in exchange for money, of course. However, he can become a fast friend; you can even live together, so let’s take a look at his favorite gifts, heart events, and movies he likes.

Like other Stardew Valley characters, Krobus has preferences for his favorite movies and gifts and has a couple of heart events for you to experience. However, no matter how close you two get, he isn’t going to help run your farm, so you should read up on how to build a Stardew Valley silo; without one, you can’t look after your precious animals.

Here’s everything you need to know about Stardew Valley’s Krobus:

What are the best Stardew Valley Krobus gifts?

Krobus likes garbage. That’s the long and short of it. However, we all know the old saying, ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,’ so we’re not going to judge all the monstrous stuff Stardew Valley’s Krobus likes. Instead, we’re going to be happy he has a big enough list of things he enjoys to ensure we have something for him.

What are Stardew Valley Krobus’ heart events?

While most citizens have at least three or four heart events for you to experience, Krobus has just two, though he’s the only one outside of a romance that you can have a 14 heart event with, and it’s quite adorable. Typically, you either need to be married to someone like Stardew Valley’s Maru or Stardew Valley’s Sebastian to experience such an event. Even outside of romance, Krobus is one of a kind, as friends like Stardew Valley’s Marnie tend to cap out at eight, so Krobus is quite special in the friends department.

Event How to trigger
Three hearts Krobus sends the recipe for dark sign in the mail
14 hearts Go to the Beach between 8pm and 1am on a non-rainy day, you’ll see Krobus sitting on the dock, then a sea monster appears and Krobus goes for a ride on it. Don’t worry about your pal; the love heart bubble above his head indicates he likes it

Stardew Valley Krobus quests

Like many of the other residents of Pelican Town, Krobus has a couple of quests for you to complete. The first is Dark Talisman, though Krobus is just a part of this quest. You need to talk to Krobus after the Wizard requests some ink, as he then opens the passage to the Mutant Bug Lair, allowing you to find the talisman.

The Second Stardew Valley Krobus quest is called A Winter Mystery, and it rewards you with a magnifying glass, which means you can find secret notes. The quest starts by mail after you trigger a cutscene by approaching the bus stop during winter between 6am and 4pm. You need to go to the Community Center and interact with the bus; this triggers another cutscene in which Krobus gives you the magnifying glass.

What are Krobus’ favorite movies and concessions?

Krobus makes me miss Stardew Valley’s Leo and Stardew Valley’s Sandy. Those two love going to the movies and are more than happy to eat pretty much any snack, except for the questionable ones. Krobus, meanwhile, hates all but one movie and doesn’t seem to like any of the good food. Perhaps it’s best to get Krobus to babysit the kids while you take someone else to the movies.

Movie Concession
Love N/A Black licorice
Dislike It Howls In The Rain, Natural Wonders: Exploring Our Vibrant World, Wumbus, The Brave Little Sapling, Journey Of The Prairie King: The Motion Picture, The Zuzu City Express, The Miracle At Coldstar Ranch Cotton candy, stardrop sorbet, rock candy, apple slices, cappuccino mouse cake, jawbreaker, apple slices, chocolate popcorn, joja cola, jojacorn, star cookie

Can you marry Stardew Valley’s Krobus?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but no, you can’t declare your love for Krobus and marry him – he’s a monster, literally. However, you can become very close friends with him, even living together as roommates if you don’t want to share such a big commitment with a romantic partner. You can even more Krobus in if you get a divorce and he’ll help look after your kids if you have any. What a good guy.

If you want to give marriage a shot, you need to get to know people such as Stardew Valley’s Emily and Stardew Valley’s Harvey, though there are plenty more singletons if they’re not the ones for you.

How do I make Krobus my roommate?

If you like being a bachelor or bachelorette but don’t enjoy living on your own, your ol’ pal Krobus is here to be your roommate. Seriously, you can live with the monster, though you still need to follow the same steps as you would with a potential spouse. However, instead of a mermaid pendant, you need to give Krobus the void ghost pendant and upgrade your farmhouse to give him his own room. Just one thing: unlike a wife or husband, Krobus doesn’t do any of the chores.

However, there are perks you get that a spouse doesn’t offer. For instance, Krobus doesn’t get jealous when you give out gifts, whereas your husband or wife most certainly kicks up a stink about it. If you do make Krobus your roommate, a chest will replace him in the sewers. If you want to send him back to where he came from, you don’t have to spend any money. This isn’t a divorce, though you still need to pay the mayor a visit. However, this does effectively ruin your friendship, so make sure you wipe his memory at the Dark Shrine of Memory if you want to start over.

What does Krobus sell?

Before your budding friendship results in you possibly living together, Krobus is little more to you than a monster you can buy some goods from in the sewer. He actually has some handy items for sale, so let’s take a look at his stock and how much it costs.
