Pickaxes are the main harvesting tool you use in The Forge to mine for ores. As a Forge Master, your role is to gather the best ores you can, which you can then use to craft weapons. Because weapons can be powerful or weak, depending on the ore, it also affects how much they're worth when you sell them. If you're looking to craft better weapons, then you need the right pickaxe for the job.
There are other factors to account for, though. You can roll your Race to determine whether you get special buffs for mining, getting ores, and combat. All players start as humans, but you can visit the Wizard NPC at the Wizard Tower to change it. Potions also grant similar buffs. At the end of the day, though, you need a good pickaxe.
