The Forge stone - a skeleton character holding a stone sword

Sometimes you've gotta take it back to basics and search for some The Forge stone. It's not that shiny or special, but the common ore has its uses. If you use it in armor and weapons, it gives a grey visual to the item, to go with its regular old grey appearance.

You get a 1/1 chance of getting stone as a drop, but for more The Forge ore chances, you can check our guide. Also, make sure you use the new The Forge codes for more items in the game.

Where do I find stone in The Forge?

Stone's rarity is common, and it has a multiplier value of 0.2. You can sell it for $3 if you end up with too much.

To get stone in The Forge, you need to head to the mine entrance in Stonewake's Cross. Here, there are pebbles near the cave's entrance, which have a 1/1 chance of dropping stone. They can also drop copper and sandstone, or occasionally iron. You can also get it from larger stones further on, but the pebbles are the most reliable source.

Stone is one of the three different types of ores that you need to mine for Nord's 'The Basics of Mining' quest, along with sandstone and copper. You don't need to give the ore to him, though - the quest completes when you mine the required ores, and you can repeat this quest as many times as you like by simply talking to him again when you're done. To learn more about Nord and the other recurring quests that you can use to farm XP, check out our full The Forge quest guide.

Once you've got a handful of rocks, you can head to the forge workshop and create some stone-based The Forge armor or weapons.

Why can't I get stone in The Forge?

If you find yourself mining for ages and you haven't turned up much stone, it may be due to the weapon you're using. For instance, if your The Forge pickaxe has luck boosts, it'll mean you don't get as many common drops.

There is also a chance that you're just super lucky by nature and happen to only get sandstone or copper, or even iron, while mining pebbles. We suggest heading back to the very beginning of Stonewake's Cross cave and continuing to mine the pebble nodes until you get some stone.

Alternatively, you can use (or re-purchase) the basic bronze pickaxe from Miner Fred's Pickaxe shop, as it only has a +5% luck boost.
