I'm pretty jealous of Tomb Raider fans right now. Between remasters of early games, ports of recent ones, and two brand-new entries in the works, Lara Croft lovers are truly eating well. Sadly, my favorite Square Enix property, Just Cause, is lost in the abyss. And just to add salt to the wound, the studio now confirms plans to put 2013's Tomb Raider on more platforms on February 12, 2026.
This time, we're moving beyond that recent Nintendo Switch 2 port. Now, the beginning of the Survivor Trilogy is coming to iPhone and Android devices. Not only is this a first for Crystal Dynamics' run of games, but it marks the debut of a major Tomb Raider title getting a fully-fledged mobile port. Speaking about this forthcoming iteration, developer Feral Interactive says that "Tomb Raider for iOS and Android will offer the full origin story of Lara Croft, complete with every testing puzzle and intense firefight from the original console version of the game."
It also includes 12 DLCs, all of which offer more outfits, upgrades, and an extra Challenge Tomb. There's no additional cost for these either, as they come with the game at launch. You can expect touchscreen support as standard, but the great thing is that Tomb Raider supports plenty of the best mobile controllers, too. Alternatively, if you prefer not to use either, you can opt for a keyboard and mouse.
Tomb Raider also brings gyroscope aiming to the table on supported devices, if that's your thing. Feral Interactive promises "triple-A visuals and great performance, as well as optimisation presets allowing players to prioritise improved performance or higher fidelity graphics." I'm curious to see how it fares on slightly lower spec devices, though. While this is a landmark for Tomb Raider on the small screen, it isn't Lara Croft's first foray into mobile gaming.
You may remember Lara Croft Go, a turn-based take on the series that became a sleeper hit. There's also Tomb Raider Reloaded, a free mobile game that turns Lara's adventures into a top-down shooter. And if you really want to dig up her past, I have a soft spot for Tomb Raider: Relic Run, a shameless Temple Run imitator. It's hardly one of the best Tomb Raider games, but it's still a good bit of fun.
We'll see her next appear in Tomb Raider: Legend of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, with the latter directly following on from Underworld.
