There are plenty of units in UTD, but few have the same impact as Universal Tower Defense's Lulu, a secret character that takes some considerable effort to get your hands on. Mind you, he's more than worth the effort, and we can tell you everything you need to know, from how to unlock him to the moves that he has.
If you want to see where Lulu ranks among all of the other units, make sure you stop by our Universal Tower Defense tier list, where we also rank all of the Universal Tower Defense traits, so you know which ones to equip your units with.
Here's everything you need to know about Universal Tower Defense's Lulu:
Who is Universal Tower Defense's Lulu?
Lulu is a secret unit, and he's quite a powerful one at that. While other secret units may require you roll for them and hope you get lucky, there are actually specific steps you need to take to unlock Lulu. The good news is that you know you can get him; the bad news is that you need to go on a series of quests in the late game to do so. Still, it's nice to have a strong unit that isn't all up to chance.
How do I unlock Universal Tower Defense's Lulu?
To unlock Lulu, you need to complete the Power of Kings quest, which may sound simple enough on the surface, but you need to be level 30 before you can embark on this mission, so it takes some time before you can attempt it. After you claim the quest in the quest tab, you need to find an NPC in the lobby with a red symbol over their head - the NPC can be different for each player, so you just need to search for the symbol rather than a specific NPC.
After speaking with the NPC, you need to head to Story and play any level from their map, then, while in the level, you need to complete the chess game you find there. After you do this, you need to go and speak with the Mysterious Witch NPC; she's near the rewards station, standing in front of the AFK World. She gives you an additional three quests to complete:
- Defeat 15 bosses
- Clear 80 waves
- Upgrade 75 relics
After you do those quests, you get one final mission, and that's to summon 5k units in any game mode you like. You can do this across all of them for a bit of variety, or hone in on easy maps to speed things up. After you do this, head to the Power of Kings mission in the quest tab, and you can finally add Lulu to your arsenal.
What are Universal Tower Defense Lulu's moves?
Lulu is a bit more unique than other units, as rather than going on the offensive and attacking enemies himself, he takes a support role. As such, he can give orders to other units, as well as give commands to his enemies. Lulu is very powerful, and you should absolutely consider summoning him. His moves are as follows:
- Retreat! - enemies walk backwards for 40% of the time that they are within Lulu's range
- Beam! - Lulu summons the Shinhira, and they deal 100% to all enemies that are currently in front of Lulu
- Stand Still - enemies can bump into each other, and the command stuns them for four seconds
- Attack! - enemies collide into each other and walk backwards for two seconds
- Absolute Control! - whatever your current order is applies to every enemy across the entire map, not just those near Lulu
What is the best trait for Universal Tower Defense's Lulu?
There are a couple of traits that are good for Lulu, but, considering how powerful he is, we recommend you go for the Sacred trait, as it cuts the cost of summoning him by 15%, meaning you can get Lulu on the battlefield much faster, while also being able to spend less when upgrading him. The Sacred trait has an extremely low roll chance, however, so make sure you check out our Universal Tower Defense codes guide to get all the free rolls you can.
