This year's Wholesome Snack showcase lays out the future of cozy portable gaming for 2026

My favorite TGA showcase came to play this year, bringing tons of games that are built for portable play, and more to look forward to next year.

One of my favorite parts of The Game Awards is seeing showcases from indie game groups that highlight the future of cozy gaming. One such showcase is Wholesome Snack 2025, Wholesome Games' mini presentation that somehow squashed over 20 games into a 30-minute rapid-fire livestream.

As well as the plethora of games that we already know are coming to the Nintendo Switch, mobile, and Steam Deck, there are a few titles from the Wholesome Snack showcase that I'm desperately hoping make the leap to portable platforms. In particular, Spellgarden Games, the creators of Ritual of Raven and Sticky Business, announced a new shop sim cozy game called Thrifty Business. We're also getting a follow-up to Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley that follows Moomintroll experiencing his first winter.

While the majority of these games aren't releasing until 2026, Wholesome Games has put together a collection of nine games from this past year to celebrate the showcase. You can get the Wholesome Snack Showcase Bundle for just $12, and support the American Civil Liberties Union at the same time, thanks to Humble Bundle. The ACLU fights to protect immigrants' rights, transgender healthcare, abortion rights, and much more through its work.

Here are all the games coming to portable platforms from the Wholesome Snack 2025 showcase:

Bits & Bops

Platforms: Steam Deck

If, like me, you're anxiously waiting for any news on Rhythm Heaven Groove, Bits & Bops is the perfect game to play in the meantime. It's a collection of charmingly illustrated rhythm minigames set to a full soundtrack of original music, built on a custom engine tailored towards split-second accuracy. It got a surprise release during the showcase, so you can play it now.

CatchMaker

Platforms: Steam Deck

CatchMaker is an adorable 3D bug-catching game that lets you live the slow life, but as well as collecting your favorite critters, you get to set them up on dates! Find out each bug's preferences by pairing them up with potential suitors, and help them find the love of their life. There's no release window for CatchMaker just yet.

Coffee Talk Tokyo

Platforms: Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch

The third installment in the drink-making visual novel, Coffee Talk Tokyo, finally got a release date during this year's Wholesome Snack showcase. We can expect to brew up a storm and meet tons of new friends on March 5, 2026, and if you want to give it a go before then, there's a demo available on Steam.

Cozy Caravan

Platforms: Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Apple Arcade

After entering Steam Early Access in May 2024, Cozy Caravan is finally launching its 1.0 version for Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, and Apple Arcade on January 8, 2026. It's a game like Animal Crossing, but instead of being a human amongst animal villagers, you get to become an animal too. It's also the only game I've ever seen with a sewing machine minigame!

D-topia

Platforms: Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2

From the legendary publishers behind games like Stray, Thirsty Suitors, and Lego Voyagers, D-topia is a gentle-paced puzzle game set in a world where AI curates our happiness. It's due out sometime in 2026, but we don't know when. The trailer shows off a range of logic puzzles, from 2048-style block sliders to more complex hacking minigames, and it all looks delicious. It's also a choice game, which gives it bonus points in my book.

Find Your Words

Platforms: Steam Deck

Find Your Words is a cozy campsite adventure based on the developers' experiences with their own non-verbal children and helping them to find their voices. You use a communication binder to connect with the other kids at the campsite, unlocking new activities as you deepen your friendships. It's due out sometime during 2026.

Fishbowl

Platforms: Steam Deck

I played the original demo for Fishbowl a while ago now and fell in love with it, which is why I'm so excited that it finally has a release date window for April 2026. This game follows Alo as she starts her first big job in the city while grieving her grandmother's death at the same time. She finds an unlikely lifeline in the form of a talking goldfish, and slowly begins to figure herself out. One of my favorite parts is the video editing minigame, and I can't wait to dive back in.

Mandrake

Platforms: Steam Deck

Mandrake is a fantasy farming sim steeped in old English folklore. It takes place in a world where horticulture is a forbidden practice, but you are one of the last Mandrakes, and you've returned to your family's home to revive its garden. The developer, Failbetter Games, describes Mandrake's spells as "human, humble magic," as the spells focus on tending the land rather than shooting massive fireballs.

Spirit Crossing

Platforms: iOS and Android

Spirit Crossing is a vibrant, positive co-operative life sim where the human and spirit worlds collide. It's coming to Steam in 2026, but we're more interested in seeing how its iOS and Android versions from Netflix games run. Similar to Sky: Children of the Light, Spirit Crossing sees you help lost spirits, make friends, build villages together, and express yourself through fashion.

Those are all of the Wholesome Snack 2025 games that are confirmed for portable platforms, but as I mentioned earlier, I'm sure that plenty more will make the jump soon. You can view the full list of titles on the Wholesome Games website.
